What we check on a light meter before it goes online – and what we don’t.

Anzeige
What we check
- Display, analog or digital: clearly legible
- Controls: buttons and dials work and can be operated smoothly
- Measurement response: the meter responds to light and the readings are plausible
What we don’t check
- Accuracy compared to a reference measuring device
- Compatibility with specific camera models or accessories
This means: we check that it measures and the readings are plausible – not whether the device operates with an accuracy of one-third of a stop. In older electronic models, the measuring cell can age.
