Battery disposal
Information on the disposal of old batteries
The following notice is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were delivered (end users):
1. Free return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can dispose of them at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. As a battery distributor, we are also obligated to take back used batteries. However, our obligation to take back is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our product range. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the address listed in the imprint.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass, more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass, or more than 0.004 percent lead by mass, the chemical name of the pollutant used is located below the wheeled bin symbol – where "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.

The housing shows only slight to normal signs of wear – such as minor scratches or matte areas that do not affect the function.
Looking closer at distant objects
The Carl Zeiss Jena Binoctem Binoculars 7x50 are designed for binocular viewing. For selection, magnification and objective diameter are interesting together, because they describe different properties.
Understanding the 7x50 designation
7× stands for the magnification, 50 mm for the objective diameter. This results in a calculated exit pupil of approximately 7.14 mm. This optical characteristic helps with comparison; the actually perceived brightness also depends on the eye, light, and optical design.
Choosing the handling for use
Quiet landscape details require a different approach than tracking a moving animal. A magnification as high as possible is therefore not automatically the most suitable choice. In addition to the numbers, also compare how you want to hold the device and aim it at a subject.
